October Newsletter
Hi and welcome to this month’s edition!! Below are important dates and a few reminders.
REMINDERS:
1. Just a friendly reminder that class fees are due for the next month on the last lesson of the previous month, (i.e. last week in September please pay for October, etc.) At the Pine Island facility the monies are due in cash so that I can pay the facility the way they want to be paid – sorry for the inconvenience.
5 STAR BUCKS
2. Your member has been earning 5 Star Bucks for class and good participation. You need to keep these “bucks” in a safe place until the end of the year. At the end of the year we have big awards party where everyone gets a trophy and we have a lot of fun and the girls with the most Star Bucks receive a prize!!! Keep them safe!

3. I need to make sure I have everyone’s e-mail address as we will be going Internet in the very near future. We now have a small website flashettesbaton.weebly.com which is being run by our local computer guru Kaitlyn Crawford. On it there will be up-to-date information on upcoming events, the monthly flyers, important phone numbers and some answers to your most frequently asked questions. We are not putting pictures on this website as it is just a reminder service for Flashettes – to see the fun we are having go visit The Flashettes on Facebook.
Also we eventually want to be able to send out the monthly flyer through the Internet to save paper (SAVE THE TREES FOR OUR KIDS!) So I need the email addresses for both the member and either her mom or dad (whoever checks their e-mails more often ) There is a sheet going around each class – make sure you are on it! Thanks!
COSTUMES, BATONS, SHOES, ETC.
This month we will be ordering the following:
1. Corps Costume for Beginners and Advanced: A cute custom-made costume for your member so she can participate in shows, parades and the like, (skirted leotard and matching hair tie.) Cost will be $42 for advanced and $45 for beginners.
Orders will be taken starting this week and the money will be due in cash the week of October 19-23rd. You will place your order form (attached) in an envelope with:
• your child’s name on it
• what you are ordering and in what size (please fill out completely)
• the correct amount of cash and turn it in at class.
2. Batons: Beginners you have already purchased yours at class.
Intermediate and Advanced Corps- We are ordering new Lite-Star batons, I believe they cost $26.00 (but don’t quote me!) If you need a longer baton, (minimum 24” for Intermediate,) (minimum 26” for juvenile,) and (minimum 28” for Junior and Senior,) now is the time to order!
If you only need new balls and tips (the cheaper way to go) then you need to pay for that instead – I believe it’s about $9 for a set. Orders will be taken this week and the money will be due in cash by next week at class(10/12-10/16) so I can place the order. The order goes in October 17th and I will not re-order this item.
3. Cougars for Advanced Corps: – We don’t need these until January so since we have so much money going out right now we will order these in the beginning of November. They will be approximately $36 or so – will let you know if they have gone up.
4. Costumes for the Advanced Corps: This year you need:
• your dance twirl costume from last year
• your Winter costume
• a new corps costume (being ordered next week)
• a new twirl team costume
• a pom-pom costume (being ordered in the beginning of November) .
Last year’s costumes need to fit you or we have to order new ones, and the 2 new costumes will be ordered when we order the cougars. (I am trying to find the most reasonable prices but be ready for these costs just in case: The twirl team costume will be some sort of manufactured costume around $50-$60, the poms will be a shirt and pants around $40.) All monies will be due in cash.
5. TWIRLMANIA AT DISNEY WORLD: Money is due December 1st - 7th! Its going to be one of the last big expenses so start saving now – you will get a separate flyer with complete details before the end of October.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
October 31st 2:30 PM - Our First Show of the year – at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church Carnival. Girls should arrive at 2:30 and the show will be at 3:00 – yes everyone can participate as long as you have a costume. I will send home directions the week before.
November 15th - Show at Davie Craft Show at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds – all members report at 12:45 PM we go on at about 1:15-1:30 PM again directions will come a week before the event
December 5th – Hollywood Candy Cane Parade – under the lights down the broadwalk. Mor information will follow – just keep the date open and directions will come soon
February 19th, 20th, & 21st: TWIRLMANIA - The Parades at Walt Disney World and Twirling Competition Big flyer next week.
